How many vials does the Superpower blood test take?

Seven or eight. That is the number nobody publishes, and it is the only part of the process that genuinely surprised me. If your reference point is the two vials a standard physical takes, it looks like a lot of blood leaving your arm.

I asked the phlebotomist about it in the chair. Her explanation was straightforward and made the whole thing feel less alarming: a panel this large is not run as a single test. Different vials are routed to different labs depending on which markers they carry, and some of those labs are out of state. The vial count is a consequence of the panel's breadth, not of anything unusual about the draw itself.

Do you have to fast, and for how long?

Yes, from the night before. Water is fine and encouraged. The practical consequence is that you should book the earliest appointment you can get, because the fast runs until the needle comes out.

I took an 8:30am slot and was eating breakfast in the car by 9:00. An afternoon appointment means an entire fasted morning, which is a worse day for no benefit.

How long does the appointment actually take?

About fifteen minutes. Check-in at my Quest location was a self-service kiosk, the wait was around five minutes, and the draw itself was quick even at seven or eight vials.

There is no consultation, no physical, and nobody talks you through anything — it is a lab visit, not an appointment. Bring your ID, tap through the kiosk, sit down, leave.

How do you book it?

Directly on superpower.com after you join. You enter your address and it lists nearby Quest Diagnostics locations — there are 3,000+ nationally, and there happened to be one a few minutes from my house. I booked a slot for the very next day.

How long do results take after the draw?

About a week, arriving in waves. This is the other expectation worth resetting: there is no single moment where your results appear. Markers trickle in as each lab finishes with its vial.

• Day 1 8:30am fasted draw: kiosk check-in, ~5 minute wait, 7-8 vials
• Day 3 First results appear in the app, roughly 48 hours after the draw
• Days 3-7 Markers fill in through the week as each lab reports back
• Day 8 Last result lands: testosterone, which travelled from New Mexico to a Texas lab

My slowest marker was testosterone at a full week, and that is a Quest routing quirk rather than a Superpower one — every Quest-based service I have used behaves this way. What should you bring?

Photo ID, and that is genuinely it. Your order is already in Quest's system from the Superpower booking, so there is no paperwork to print and no payment at the lab — the draw is covered by the membership.

Two small things that are not required but help: drink water the night before and that morning, since hydrated veins make everyone's life easier, and wear sleeves you can push up past the elbow.

The one thing I would change

The vial count belongs on the booking screen. Seven or eight vials is completely fine once you understand why, and completely startling if you find out while it is happening. It is the only part of an otherwise smooth process that made me sit up, and it would take one sentence to fix.
